DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING OVERHEATING OF IGNITER IN VEHICLE

PURPOSE: An overheat preventive device of an igniter for a vehicle and a method thereof are provided to reduce overheat by decreasing dwell time automatically in overheating the igniter, and to control ignition stably by preventing breakage of the igniter. CONSTITUTION: An ignition control device of a vehicle is composed of an ignition coil(130) generating high voltage to a second coil(134) by current supplied to a first coil(132); an igniter(120) intermitting the current flowing through the first coil of the ignition coil; a temperature detecting unit(150) detecting temperature of the igniter; and a control unit(110) controlling the ignition of the vehicle, and supplying a driving control signal to the igniter to reduce dwell time in case of the detected temperature to be over the reference value. Overheating is prevented with decreasing dwell time automatically in overheating the igniter.
