FINE FEATURED MOLDINGS OF LIQUID CRYSTALLINE POLYMERS

Liquid crystalline polymers may be melt formed with very fine features such as ridges and/or channels molded into the resulting solid article. Ridges and/o r grooves as little as 0.1 micron wide and/or a little as 10 nm deep and/or ridges or grooves as little as 0.2 micron apart may be molded into LCPs unde r the proper molding conditions. Other features of similar sizes, such as depressions or high points, may also be molded into LCP parts. These article s are useful as and/or may be readily converted to diffraction gratings, print ed circuits, and other useful items.
