FORWARD LINK RECEIVER AND METHOD FOR MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR SUPPORTING MULTIMEDIA SERVICE

PURPOSE: A forward link receiver and method for a mobile telecommunication system for supporting a multimedia service is provided to perform an efficient packet data service of the mobile communication system for supporting the multimedia service including a voice service and a data service. CONSTITUTION: A Walsh despreader(302) performs a Walsh spreading of a quadrature-despreaded signal. A channel compensator(303) performs a channel compensation of the Walsh-despreaded signal using channel estimation information. A symbol combiner(304) combines an I channel component and a Q channel component of the channel-compensated signal according to a MAC(Medium Access Control) index predetermined in a receiving device. A user detector(305) receives the signal outputted from the symbol combiner(304) and determines whether the received forward signal is a signal for a corresponding user. A mixer(313) despreads the quadrature-despreaded signal with a Walsh code assigned in a pilot channel. A channel compensator(314) performs a channel compensation of the Walsh-despreaded signal using channel information. A demodulator(315) demodulates a burst pilot using the channel-compensated signal. A Walsh despreader(306) performs the Walsh despreading of the quadrature-despreaded signal. A channel compensator(307) performs the channel compensation of the Walsh-despreaded signal using channel estimation information. A symbol combiner/inserter(309) performs the serial conversion of the channel-compensated signals and performs the combination or insertion of symbols according to the repetition and puncturing of a transmitter. A QPSK/8PSK/16QAM demodulator(310) performs the QPSK/8PSK/16QAM demodulation of the output of the symbol combiner/inserter(309). A deinterleaver(311) deinterleaves the demodulated signal. A turbo decoder(312) performs the turbo decoding of the interleaved signal and extracts information bits.
