A rotary soil engaging member (20, 30) for use in treating soil comprises a soil engaging peripheral surface made of a resilient cellular material, such as microcellular polyurethane. The material has a shore hardness from 5 to 50 and a ball rebound test parameter of 30-80 %. A composite material for use in such a soil engaging member comprises a reinforcing web of, e.g. braided polypropylene and a resilient cellular material such as microcellular polyurethane surrounding the web. In another aspect a method of making such a soil engaging member comprises the steps of providing a mould, arranging a plurality of retaining members in the mould, arranging the reinforcing web around the retaining members, injecting resilient cellular material into the mould and withdrawing the retaining members from the mould.
