PURPOSE: An apparatus for marking letters and shapes on the surface and the inside of glass with ultraviolet laser beam(355nm) irradiated by Nd-YVO4 laser unlike conventional YAG or YLF laser. The apparatus improves distinction of marked part and prevents cracking of glass. CONSTITUTION: The marking method by using the apparatus is as follows: irradiating ultraviolet laser beam from a beam generator, and generating laser beam magnified by moving a fixed distance repeatedly in a high speed by a beam-extender(20); selecting a movement path of beam to make the laser beam be over the glass through a mirror(31, 32) whose angle and direction are controlled by a motor; irradiating the surface or the inside of the glass with an intensive laser beam to form letters and shapes due to melting or discoloration of a certain part.
