PURPOSE: A device for accessing a program memory is provided to reduce the production time and cost of microcontroller by controlling a value of program counter without correcting a circuit of chip according to the size of user program region. CONSTITUTION: The device is equipped with a program memory(202) being built in the microcontroller and having a user region storing an instruction and a configuration region storing the size information of user region in two bites of configuration bites consisting of 12 bites, a configuration decoder(205) decoding the user region size information received from the configuration region of program memory, a program counter(200) outputting an address if a transaction is occurred on the reset program counter value according to the output signal of configuration decoder, and an address decoder(201) accessing the program memory in accordance with the decoded address of program counter.
