Where several engraving units are provided which can be brought close to the surface of the cylinder the units are moved in unison onto the cylinder. Independent claim describes engraving machine where the engraving units are mounted on a movable support to move in unison up to and away from the cylinder. The same support is designed for moving the engraving units parallel and axial to the cylinder.
