A method of producing an active matrix substrate, capable of simplifying production processes, giving a wide choice of materials and being high in production yield; and a method of producing a liquid crystal display device using that method. Conductive colored layers (606-608) each working as a pixel electrode and a color filter are formed by a process in which ink formed by mixing a coloring material with a conductive material is jetted by an ink jet method into a region where a pixel electrode electrically connected with an active element (602) is formed.
