The machine has working stations (6,7) with tools on either side of a brick conveyor (2), and a measuring device (22,23) located behind the stations in advance direction. The device has stationary optical measurers (24,25,26,27) on either side of the conveyor, to determine the distance between the measurers and a side surface (28) of a brick (5) already worked on. The tools (8,9,10,11) in the working stations are mainly positioned opposite to each other. Each working station is a grinder or milling cutter.
