PURPOSE: A structure for attenuating shadow mask vibration of a flat cathode ray tube is provided to obtain optimized condition for vibration attenuation. CONSTITUTION: A structure for attenuating shadow mask vibration of a flat cathode ray tube comprises a shadow mask(4) stretched to a rail on a panel(1), and a damper wire(8) arranged by using fixing elements on the shadow mask(4). A value corresponding to 10% of a third natural frequency of the shadow mask(4) is smaller than an absolute value of a distance between a first natural frequency of the damper wire(8) and the third natural frequency of the shadow mask(4). The first natural frequency of the damper wire(8) is larger than the third natural frequency + 10% of the shadow mask(4) or smaller than the third natural frequency - 10% of the shadow mask(4).
