PURPOSE: A method for turbo decoding is provided to reduce a size of circuit, the amount of calculation, power consumption by using only one backward processor and improve decoding capacity by utilizing a trellis termination characteristic. CONSTITUTION: A turbo decoding method is performed by using a MAP(Maximum A Posteriori) algorithm. A learning process is performed by backward processing during a predetermined length. The first result value is calculated by the backward processing. The second result value is calculated by forward processing. A decoding bit output is determined by using the first result value prior to the first result value. The first result value is stored by one port of a dual port RAM. The first result value is read by the other port of the dual port RAM. The addresses read or stored by the dual port RAM are increased or reduced each forward period or each backward processing period.
