The door handle incorporates a button (50) to close the supply to an electronic identification module (36) which operates in conjunction with an antenna formed by a coil round the perimeter of the door handle recess. The antenna reacts to a passive transponder worn on the driver's wrist where it will be in proximity to the antenna as the driver presses the button and grips the door handle (22).
