METHOD AND DEVICE FOR COCHLEAR IMPLANTS BY ELECTRODE EMPLOYING OPTOELECTRONIC ELEMENTS.

In the present it is described a technical modification that simplifies the employed systems in the cochlear implants currently used. It is proposed a new way of transferring the auditive signals to the cochlea by means of devices and optoelectronic techniques. It is considered that the system has various advantages over the conventional cochlear implants known until now. These advantages are: a) the chirurgical insertion of the internal elements is simpler; less traumatic, with better morbidity and lower cost; b) the proposed system makes cheaper the equipment price; c) with this new design it is reduced the possibility of interference in the equipment due to external electromagnetic noise.
