<p>The coolant filter assembly (20) includes two primary components which are assembled to one another in a stacked configuration and which in turn are assembled to the cylinder head. These primary components include a filter head assembly (21) with various inlets (38), outlets, and passageways (39 and 40). The other component is a coolant filter (23) which is connected to the filter head assembly (21) and which filters the flow of coolant from the filter head assembly (21) and then introduces the coolant back into the filter head assembly (21). A shut off valve (41) is positioned in the filter head assembly (21) so as to block the flow of coolant from the coolant filter (23), allowing the coolant filter (23) to be replaced without the loss of coolant. A by-pass passageway (70) ensures that coolant continues to flow to the heat exchanger (47), even when the shut off valve (41) is in a closed condition.</p> |
