METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF POLYCARBONATE AND FILTERING DEVICE

A process for producing a polycarbonate using at least one filter unit which stores a plurality of disk type filter elements having an outer diameter of 15 inches (38.1 cm) or less, an inner diameter/outer diameter ratio of 1/7 or more and an opening size of 40 mu m or less and piled up together, and a filter unit. A high-quality polycarbonate and a molded product thereof can be produced by removing foreign matter efficiently using the filter unit and suppressing discoloration, crosslinking and gel formation in the filter unit at the same time. The production process and filter unit are especially effective for a polycarbonate produced by an ester exchange method.
