PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon carbide cylindrical body which has excellent high strength and dimensional precision, and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a silicon carbide cylindrical body is provided wherein a silicon carbide powder of <=4 in particle size distribution (D90/D10) is used, and at least centrifugally molded. A mode wherein the particle size distribution (D90/D10) is 1.5 to <=3; a mode wherein a centrifugal force in centrifugal molding is 20 to 70 G; a mode wherein the silicon carbide powder is obtained by dissolving a silicon source wherein the silicon carbide powder contains at least one kind of silicon compound, a carbon source containing at least one kind of an organic compound-generating carbon by heating and polymerizing or crosslinking catalyst in a solvent and burning, and the like are preferable. Further, the silicon carbide cylindrical body is obtained by the method for manufacturing the silicon carbide cylindrical body and a bend strength is >=30 MPa.
