PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immobilized catalyst of group VIII metal whose activity is high and stability is excellent. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the immobilized catalyst of the group VIII metal is characterized in that a mixture of a nonaqueous solvent based colloidal solution obtained by mixing a specified hydrogenated silicon compound with a complex and/or metal salt containing the group VIII metal and a carrier is dried.
