PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process enabling a polymer to be produced by an improved method by the use of an efficient static reactor. SOLUTION: The polymerizer comprises a reactor (1), feed means (10, 25) for feeding a monomer to an inlet means (2) and an outlet means (5); furthermore, a means for introducing a viscosity control agent into the feed means is set so as to form a reaction mixture containing the monomer. The polymerizer is adapted so as to maintain the temperature in a reaction chamber (3) and the flow of the reaction mixture/polymer obtained at substantially prescribed levels, respectively. The polymerizer is under control by a control means (24) which works as follows: any variance from a previously specified pressure drop between the inlet means (2) and the outlet means (5) is detected, and if a variance occurs, the compensatory rate for introducing the viscosity control agent is put to computer processing so as to return the pressure drop between the inlet means (2) and the outlet means (5) to a regulated value.
