PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for refining a polyorganosiloxane latex as a raw material for impact resistance improvers having good color developability and/or appearance or for an aqueous coating material. SOLUTION: This method for refining a polyorganosiloxane latex is characterized by comprising the following process: an emulsion prepared by emulsifying by using both an emulsifier and water an organosiloxane-based mixture comprising an organosiloxane and a vinyl-polymerizable functional group-containing siloxane or, as necessary, containing a siloxane-based crosslinking agent, is put to polymerization at high temperatures in the presence of an acid catalyst to produce a polyorganosiloxane latex, which, in turn, is filtered by using a filter aid.
