PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for transfer which enables easy preparation of a picture pattern to be transferred and easy transfer of the picture pattern onto an arbitrary material without the possibility of peeling off therefrom. SOLUTION: A print paper sheet is prepared by printing the picture pattern on a transfer paper sheet coated with water-soluble starch, by a copying machine or a printer using toner. The surface of the printed paper sheet bearing the picture pattern is put and positioned on the surface of an arbitrary transfer object such as earthenware, metal or wood by the medium of a transfer liquid being the mixture of glycol ethers of 15-25% and purified water of 85-75%. Furthermore the transfer liquid is applied thereon and the paper sheet and the object are left as they are in close contact. In a half-dried state, water is applied to the print paper sheet in close contact, from above, so as to dissolve the starch of the transfer paper sheet. Then, the ground paper portion of the transfer paper sheet is peeled off and the transfer object is dried by heating.
