PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition that has excellent color development, color tone, ink penetration into photographic paper, resistance to water and image fastness and is suitable for water color writing ink, water color printing ink, information-printing ink and the like and provide an ink for ink jet recording including the coloring composition. SOLUTION: The objective coloring composition comprises colored fine particle dispersion including at least a hydrophobic high-boiling organic solvent boiling at >=150 deg.C and an oil-soluble dye and a polymer latex. The polymer latex preferably bears ethylenically unsaturated group in the main chains or the side chains and the oil-soluble dye is preferably an oil-soluble dye represented by general formula I, particularly a magenta dye represented by general formula II, for example, an oil-soluble dye of formula M-6. |
