A fluid filter (10) includes a first batting (12) of high loft, non-woven, f ibrous fluid-permeable material with a plurality of open ings (14) formed through the thickness thereof across the length and width of the batting. A second layer (16) of high loft, non-woven, fluid- permeable fibrous batting is attached to the first layer (12) and extends ac ross the entire length and width of the first layer (12) . Preferably, the first and second layers are adhered together to form a single integral f luid filter (10). In the preferred form of the inventio n, the openings in the first batting have side walls (48) which are perpendicular to the upp er surface (36) of the batting, such that fluid flow imp acts on the upper surface of the batting, rather than directly impacting on the side wal ls. |
