PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front body structure for an automobile having a perimeter frame, in which: shock absorbing members protruding from a front portion of the perimeter frame to the front of a vehicle body are disposed so that deceleration of the body (deceleration at the early stages of crushing) is enhanced by the shock absorbing members disposed at the front portion of the perimeter frame at the early stages of head-on collision, and thereby energy absorption load is increased to reduce a load value urged on an occupant; and the front side frames and perimeter frame receive load at the early stages of collision to prevent undesired bending of front side frames. SOLUTION: The front body structure for an automobile has a pair of right and left front side frames 11, 11 and the perimeter frame 21 at least the front portion thereof is attached on front portions of the front side frames 11, 11. The front body structure for an automobile is characterized in that the shock absorbing members 32, 32 are disposed to protrude from the front portion of the perimeter frame 21 to the front of the vehicle body.
