PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metathesis polymerization method using an organic metal complex compound catalyst which can be isolated in air and is not much unstable to water, by which the polymerization reaction is carried out in a solvent incompatible with metathesis polymerizable monomers, and to obtain a particulate polymer by the polymerization method. SOLUTION: This metathesis polymerization method using an organic metal complex catalyst stable to metathesis polymerizable monomers and protonic solvents is characterized by carrying out the polymerization reaction in a solvent incompatible with the metathesis polymerizable monomers, and the particulate polymer is obtained by the metathesis polymerization method.
