PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic air filter which can comparatively simply be manufactured and can remove fine dust. SOLUTION: First regular sintered metallic compact 2 and second regular sintered metallic compact 3 are disposed inside a container body 4 and further cotton-shaped high melting point metallic bodies 1 as metallic air filters are enclosed and fixed between both. Since the cotton-shaped high melting point metallic body 1 is made of a heaped layer of the high melting point metal, which is obtained by heating the high melting point metal in a gaseous mixture composed of oxygen and an inert gas to generate and heap oxide of the high melting point metal and then reducing a heaped layer of the high melting point metal oxide in a reducing atmosphere, the cotton-shaped high melting point metallic body has high porosity and fine dust can be surely removed.
