PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater toy which uses a battery for a drive source of a motor and can minimize the power consumption of the battery. SOLUTION: This underwater toy has a shape simulating fish, a tortoise, and the like and satisfies the requirements (a) a toy body 1 comprises the battery 2, the motor 3 operated by the battery 2, and a propulsion means driven by the motor 3, (b) the battery 2 and the motor 3 are accommodated in a sealed space, and an output shaft end of the motor 3 and a shaft end of the propulsion means provided outside the sealed space face each other via a permanent magnet across a bulkhead of the sealed space, and (c) the toy body 1 comprises an optical sensor 40 for operating the motor 3, and a control circuit 4 for outputting a pulse generated by a pulse generation circuit as a drive signal based on the light detected by the optical sensor 40.
