SOLUTION: An originμgradient estimating circuit 4 stores a road surface friction coefficientμand a vehicle load FZ as initial values. The originμgradient estimating circuit 4 also computes a prescribed expression, using wheel speed R0ωfrom a wheel speed sensor 1, driving force FX from a driving force estimating circuit 3, and the road surface friction coefficientμand the vehicle load FZ, to determine theμgradient KS when the slipping rate is zero.
