PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine and its drying operation control method in which the drying operation is started after checking that a lid is closed, the lid is prevented from being opened during the drying operation, a lid switch can be dispensed with, a lid locking device can be easily accommodated in a limited space below a top cover, the lid can be reliably locked in an interlocking manner with the closing of the lid, and the reliability and the economy are improved. SOLUTION: In this washing machine in which an outer tub is hung in an outer tank in an oscillating manner, rotatably has a spinning tub having a rotary blade on a bottom and set in the outer tub, the spinning tub is covered with a top cover having a clothes throw-in port on an upper part of the outer tank, has a lid for opening/closing the clothes throw-in port, and has a lid locking device 10 to lock the lid in a non-openable manner during the drying operation, a lid lock preventive plate 18 as a lid locking preventive means for preventing the operation of the lid locking device 10 when the lid 5 is opened, is provided.
