PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint method between shielded tunnels, capable of eliminating large scale preparatory works and using the whole section between both tunnels. SOLUTION: An earth-retaining steel plate 3 is laid on the upper part of a preceeding tunnel skeleton 1 from the upper part of a following tunnel skeleton, and an earth-retaining steel plate 4 is laid on the lower part of the preceeding tunnel skeleton 1 from the lower part of the following tunnel. A water stop grout 6 is injected upward of the earth-retaining steel plate 3 laid on the upper part, and the water stop grout 6 is injected downwardly of the earth-retaining steel plate 4 laid on the lower part. Segments 11 and 21 on the side of a joint section 5 are removed to excavate the joint section 5, and the tunnel skeletons 1 and 2 are connected to each other.
