摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means to compensate changes in the color coordinate in a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal layer 30 containing liquid crystal molecules 31 and blue dye molecules 32 is injected into the gap between a lower substrate 10 and an upper substrate 20. The liquid crystal molecules 31 are aligned perpendicular to the upper and lower substrates 10, 20, and the major axes of the dye molecules 32 are also aligned perpendicular to the substrates 10, 20 similar to the liquid crystal molecules 31. Thus, changes in the color coordinate with tendency to yellowish color can be compensated. By using the blue dye molecules 32 having the optical absorption curve coincident with the transmission curve of a red filter, decrease in the transmittance can be prevented. moreover,Δn.d is changed by the compensation of the color coordinate to improve the transmittance, and decrease in the transmittance is prevented.
