PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the error correcting accuracy of a Viterbi decoder by outputting soft judgment data from an MLSE equalizer. SOLUTION: A signal receiver 100 which receives a transmitted data sequence accompanying a PN code is provided with signal converting means 104 and 106 which convert received signals into base-band signals, an impulse response estimating means 110 which estimates the radio-wave propagating state of a propagating path based on the PN code, and a maximum likelihood estimating type equalizing means 114 which selects the replica having the minimum error with respect to the received signals from the replicas of the received signals generated based on the estimated radio wave propagating state and estimates the selected replica as the transmitted data sequence. The equalizing means 114 outputs the estimated replica to which each symbol of an estimated transmitted data sequence is expressed as its certainty rate to a Viterbi decoding means 122 which performs error correction.
