PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase output in a peak period, and to keep optimal performance during a nonpeaked period in a combined cycle power plant. SOLUTION: This combined cycle power plant includes a gas turbine 210, a steam turbine and a heat recovering steam generator 220 having a duct burner 264 for auxiliary iginition. In an unigniting mode, exhaust gas of the gas turbine is used in the steam generator 220, and steam to the steam turbine 238 is generated. Main steam output piping 234 is connected to a first stage inlet of a high pressure part 236 of the steam turbine from the steam generator 220. A bypass device to either of intake points on the downstream side of a high pressure inlet nozzle under pressure lower than nominal inlet pressure, is connected from a medium pressure connecting part or high pressure piping of HRSG. The bypass device is operated together with a duct combustion process in the HRSG so that steam inlet pressure to the steam turbine can be kept at an optimal level in both operations of ignition and nonignition of the HRSG.
