PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a connector and to efficiently prevent a lever from coming off. SOLUTION: A housing groove 13 is formed in the central portion of a female housing 10 in a width direction thereof. A lever 30 is housed in the housing groove 13 to be turnably supported around a shaft 15. The lever 30 is provided at a leading end thereof with a projecting portion 33 engaging with a locking hole 24 formed on a hood portion 22 of the male housing 20, and the lever 30 is provided at a rear end with an operating portion 34. The lever 30 is held in an oblique leading position to fit the female housing 10 into the hood portion 22 by a given amount, so that a lock projecting portion 18 is engaged with a provisional lock hole 26 to be provisionally held. When an operating portion 34 is pushed inward, the projecting portion 33 is locked with an upper edge of the locking hole 24 at the beginning of turning of the lever 30, then the lever is turned with the operating portion 34 as a power point, the projecting portion 33 locked by the locking hole 24 as a fulcrum, and a shaft hole 31 as a point of application, and the shaft 15 is pressed downward to gradually engage the female housing 10 with the male housing 20.
