PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an engine from being incapable of restarting by prohibiting the automatic stop of the engine when a starter cannot sufficiently cranks the engine due to the shortage of a battery power, and by eliminating the restart after automatic stop. SOLUTION: This automatic engine stop/start control device stops the engine responding to prescribed stop conditions and restarts it responding to a prescribed starting operation after the stop. This control device is provided with a starter motor 171, a battery 168 feeding the driving power to the starter motor, a voltage detecting means 252 for measuring the battery voltage, and a determination means 709 energizing the starter motor at a prescribed timing except for the restarting timing of the engine and determining the approval/non- approval of automatic stop of the engine based on the battery voltage then. When the automatic stop of the engine is not approved, the engine is not allowed to stop, even if the stopping conditions are satisfied.
