PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of reducing power consumption and controlling decrease in display quality when displaying a picture on a display part comprised of luminous elements. SOLUTION: The display part 4 is comprised of plural signal lines, plural scanning lines, TFTs(thin film transistors) arranged for each pixel, luminous elements, or the like. An average brightness detection means 5 detects an average brightness level (APL) of video signals. The APL detects an average brightness level in one or plural display units. A tilt gain generating means 6 generates a tilt gain according to the APL. The tilt gain is set large when the APL is high, while it is set small when the APL is low. A signal level adjusting means 7 varies a video signal level so that the level is lowered according to the tilt gains toward the circumference centering a prescribed position of a screen. |
