PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display method that can display an image having improved contrast with a high dynamic range and with small circuit scale and less arithmetic amount, without being affected by a non-image part border around the image and causing a decrease in a relative contrast in the middle of the image. SOLUTION: In the case of gradation conversion depending on the frequency of luminance in the vicinity of edges, by changing the weighting of the count of the frequency of luminance between the middle and the surrounding parts of an image, a visual contrast can be improved. Furthermore, gamma correction is also applied to the image, in the case of gradation conversion to enhance the contrast depending on a display device, without extending the circuit scale. |
