PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interface device which can be reduced in power consumption by setting a transceiver as a stand-by state, and also provide a method of controlling the power of the device. SOLUTION: When a physical layer (PHY) 10 makes transition to a low power consumption mode, a stand-by signal (standby) for instruction the setting of the low power consumption mode is outputted as active level to the optical transceiver 30 linked with the transition of the physical layer. Upon receipt of the stand-by signal, the optical transceiver goes to a stand-by state which is a low power consumption mode. |
