PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material excellent in intrasurface uniformity of a processed image, having a good color tone and excellent in image preservability and to provide an image forming method. SOLUTION: In the heat developable photosensitive material with a photosensitive layer containing an organic silver salt, silver halide and a reducing agent, the standard deviation of thickness of the photosensitive layer is 0.01-0.05 and the photosensitive layer contains 0.01-0.1 g/m2 at least one compound of formula (1), (2) or (3).
