PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the long-term dispersion stability of an azo pigment, to form a coating film for a photosensitive layer having uniform depth of color and to obtain an electrophotographic photoreceptor free from the deterioration of electrostatic characteristics by using the coating film. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic photoreceptor with a photosensitive layer containing an azo pigment as an electric charge generating material on an electrically conductive substrate, the photosensitive layer is formed using a saturated or unsaturated polycarboxylic acid polymer as a dispersant as well as the azo pigment.
