PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve lighting characteristics and thus prevent distortion in oscillation waveform and heating even if a high output is demanded. SOLUTION: An inverter produces alternating currents by resonance between a resonance capacitor and a transformer using switching elements and increases voltage by the transformer. The resonance portion of the inverter is provided with a phase adjustment portion for reducing the phase difference between the output alternating current of the inverter and the output alternating-current voltage of the inverter, and the phase adjustment portion has an electromagnetic coil and a capacitor for adjustment. These elements are so set that the above phase difference is substantially equal to zero.
