<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back light having high luminance, a small number of structural parts and easy assembling property and to provide a liquid crystal display device which uses the back light. SOLUTION: A film or plate which has small projections on its surface and which is a transparent body having an almost same refractive index as that of a light guide plate is joined to the upper face of the light transmitting face of a light guide plate so as to integrate the small projections and the light transmitting face of the light guide body. The obtained light guide plate is used to illuminate a display device with illumination light having proper angle distribution from the light transmitting face. By using the above light guide plate, a back light conventionally composed of many parts such as a light source, light guide plate, diffusion sheet, prism sheet, reflector or the like can be composed of only a light source and the light guide plate. Thereby, improvement in the luminance and reduction in the cost of parts and the number of assembling processes are realized.</p> |
