PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat yarn having a feeling of depth and an appearance of a spun yarn tone and a method for manufacturing the same; and a flat yarn consisting of a cellulose fiber such as cotton, hemp or rayon, or an animal- originated natural fiber such as silk or wool, having washing resistance, and having an excellent feeling free from rubbery feeling and waxy feeling; and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A flat yarn comprising a plurality of yarns including spun yarns such as cotton yarn or twisted filament yarns which are arranged laterally in a line and integrally bonded with a paste of arum root or the like. A flat yarn in which at lest a part of the fibers constituting the above flat yarn are bonded to each other with another paste. A flat yarn containing yarns having sizes, colors and materials different from each other. Further, a method for manufacturing a flat yarn comprising applying an adhesive consisting of a mannan solution on yarns, arranging the yarns laterally in a line so that a plurality of the adjacent yarns come into contact with each other, and solidifying the adhesive.
