PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image recorder having a transfer body hardly damaged and stably forming an image. SOLUTION: An intermediate transfer body unit 2 is provided with a back cover 14 at the exposed part of an intermediate transfer belt 3, that is, a part opposed to a photoreceptor 21, and a front cover 13 with which a part opposed to recording paper is covered, and the covers 13 and 14 are respectively moved in an opening direction when the unit 2 is positioned at a specified housing part in the recorder and used to form an image, and respectively moved in a closing direction so as to protect the exposed part of the belt 3 when the unit 2 is taken out from the specified housing part in the recorder. Thus, the color image recorder having the reliable intermediate transfer body unit hardly damaged even when the recorder main body is opened such as in the case of maintenance care, and stably forming the image from such aspect is provided.
