PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflecting plate, for the position detection of an automated guided vehicle, which can enhance the accuracy of the detection position of the automated guided vehicle by a method, where a plurality of reflection parts and nonreflected parts which are erected and installed in a plurality of places in the running environment of the vehicle and which are formed of mutually different patterns, so as to be divided in the longitudinal direction are provided and to provide a position detector. SOLUTION: The reflected parts and the nonreflected parts in the different patterns are formed in each reflecting plate. Both upper and lower end parts are formed as the reflected parts. In addition to position information 10 on the reflecting palate, also pattern information and length information are stored in a memory 14. A reflector 16 is supported by a reflector- supporting device 17, which is constituted of a hinge and a spring in such a way that the angle of inclination of the reflector 16 is changed by a centrifugal force, the rotational speed of the reflector is changed, and a laser 5 is turned and scanned in a cylindrical shape. On the basis of the pattern information and the length information in the memory, on the basis of whether a reflected laser 6 exists and on the basis of the rotating angle and the angle of inclination of the reflector, which reflecting plate exists, in which direction and approximately at which distance is found, and the position of the automated guided vehicle is detected.
