PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for uniformly producing in high speed a low- molecular-oriented fiber drawn at a high ratio while suppressing its molecular weight drop as an intermediate step in particular for affording an ultrafine and/or high-tenacity fiber and a method for producing the fiber. SOLUTION: This method for producing a low-molecular-oriented fiber is characterized by comprising the 1st step wherein a synthetic fiber filament yarn is fed from a 1st take-up roller and wound on a 2nd take-up roller and the 2nd step wherein the filament yarn lying between the 1st take-up roller and the 2nd take-up roller is irradiated with an infrared ray flux and put to flow drawing into the objective low-molecular-oriented drawn fiber.
