BROADCAST SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a broadcast system enabling users to freely select view start times of program data, with efficiently using communication channels. SOLUTION: A server 10 comprises a request processor 12 for dynamically changing communication means for use in data transmission according to the number of clients 20 requesting program data and a digest generator 13 for generating digest of program data as long as required. It broadcasts much requested program data to the clients in one to multiple communication and less requested program data in one to one communication. Upon receipt of a request during broadcasting of program data, it generates a digest of already broadcast parts of the program data and transmits it to the client. The client 20 first receives the digest of the program data and changes over for receiving the originally broadcasting program data after ending the reception of the digest.
