PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing the deterioration of the power generating efficiency and the increase in the driving resistance of rotary electric devices such as an electric motor and a power generator without deteriorating the restating performance of the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: In rotating an engine in a self sustaining stop state, the pump loss is reduced in respective cylinders in one bank out of the both banks 11a ad 11b and the compression necessary for starting the engine is generated in the respective cylinders of the other bank. In this state, the pump loss is reduced in the cylinders except for the cylinders generated the compression so that the deterioration in the power efficiency and the increase in the driving resistance of the motor generator caused by the pump loss of the engine 11 are suppressed. When the fuel injection and ignition are started based on the driving demand of the engine 11 and the engine is restarted, the compression necessary for starting the engine is generated in the cylinders except for the cylinders reducing the pump loss so that the restart of the engine 11 is quickly performed. |
