PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a destination even in a wide map area by address input. SOLUTION: This destination-setting method sets destination, by using a storage medium 11 having either (1) detailed map data, regarding detailed map areas or (2) not detailed map data, but only wide-area map data including major roads and roads leading to city center parts for the wide-map areas. An address database 21 is provided with cities in the wide-map areas and detailed map areas capable of being discriminated from each other. A destination is set by inputting an address and then when a city name is inputted, it is checked whether the city is in a wide-map area by referring to the address database; and when the city is in a detailed map area, the input of a street name is allowed to set the destination with the city name and street name, but when the city is in a wide-map area, the center of the city is set as the destination. |
