PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera that records a program and a parameter or the like onto an exclusive recording medium. SOLUTION: The electronic camera identifies whether a loaded recording medium is an exclusive recording medium, on which a program and a parameter relating to electronic camera control are recorded, on the basis of data read from a prescribed area of the loaded recording medium. When the recording medium is identified as being the exclusive recording medium, the electronic camera allows execution of rewrite processing, with respect to the program and the parameter recorded in this medium. When it is not the exclusive recording medium, the electronic camera prevents the execution of the write processing.
