PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a data recorder, which is capable of checking whether the once recorded information signal (data) is correctly recorded, by dubbing and surely and correctly recording the information signal by correcting errors, when there is one. SOLUTION: This data recorder 1 has a CD reproducing device 2, which reads the data of, for example, a CD, for example, an HD device 3 which is capable of writing and reading this data, a speed controller 5 which controls the CD reading speed of the CD reproducing device 2 and the writing and reading speeds of the HD device 3, an error-discriminating means which writes the data read by the CD reproducing device 2 to an HD, then reads out the written data by the HD device 3 by each of the prescribed units and discriminates the presence or absence of the occurrence of the error by comparing the read-out data with the data of the CD and a rewriting means 4 which rewrites the data of the error parts with the data read out of the CD of the CD reproducing device 2 when the error is discriminated by the error discriminating means.
